The holidays have arrived! And that means time well-spent with the ones we love the most. But how do we start making memories when we just don’t know what gifts to give, where to go or even what to wear to wherever it is that we’re going? That’s why we at Valija teamed up with Merodea to create the ultimate guide to Christmas here in Puerto Rico. ¡Y tú puedes coger PON (Plan Oficial de Navidad) con nosotrxs!
PON is Valija’s first Holiday Booklet that serves as an authentic guide for anyone who’s ready to experience a true Puerto Rican Christmas with our Valija twist. Inside you’ll find all the details you need for December 2019, like:
This plan was made with our Puerto Rican Babes in mind! And to test it out, we invited some of our favorite #ValijaGirls a chinchorrear, all the while dancing from one spot to the other under the neon lights of a dreamy party bus through San Juan.
Wait. Chinchorreo in San Juan? That’s right, girl!
Located in the heart of Santurce (La Placita), Delavidais a beautiful house that was transformed into their very own restobar concept. We started off the night with a couple of glasses of rosé on their cool wooden deck. There we had set up a tote bag printing station, where you could choose and print your favorite design on our reusable tote bags made from organic cotton.
After a little bit of dancing and a few words from our founder Cristina Collazo, we headed to the party bus and on to the next location…
Next we headed to Vivo Beach Club where this Puerto Rican brewery is located. Here we had a fun beer tasting and a tour of the brewery. If you’ve never been into beer, we suggest starting off with any of the Ocean Lab beers. They have flavors for everyone! Our personal favorite: Mambo (a passionfruit wheat beer to die for). After the tasting, it started raining like it was hurricane season; but that didn’t stop us from partying (wind & rain included).
What’s a chinchorreo without the food? That’s why we headed straight to Tresbé. Located in calle Loíza, this is a cool spot to grab a bite to eat. There we enjoyed a special Christmas food menu they had prepared for us. Alcapurrias, sorullitos, morcilla, even lechón a la vara! It was all SO GOOD… They even had a dance floor set up with a DJ! Because who doesn’t want to eat their cuerito, while dancing to Daddy Yankee’s Con Calma?
Our final stop took place in this quirky & cool bar located in Santurce. El Nie always has games and usually live bands or DJs playing. This is the spot for a lowkey fun time (or high key… that’s up to you & your corillx). Once we got in, we were greeted by Las Batuchicas: a badass women run music group that plays afro brazilian rhythms. They gave us la batucada that we needed to conclude our San Juan chinchorreo & initiate this holiday season.
This event only left us wanting more. More music, more food, more road trips, more memories, more love! And we think you might too, that’s why this December we invite you to #PONelPlan with the people the people that matter most to you!
