    CARING FOR OUR PLANET

Taking care of our planet is not something that we should think about just when a "major" problem arises. We live and belong to an ecosystem; an ecosystem that survives by a simple rule, synergy.

Synergy, in a simpler definition, is the realization that I affect you and you affect me and without each other we cannot exist. This is something that we cannot take for granted, because literally every single living organisms that exists in our planet Earth has a purpose and is relevant to our existence and prevalence of our race.

Nature has always found the way to reinvent herself, and so should we. We are entering a time when we are awakening and being more conscious. A time when we are realizing that by taking little steps we can contribute to a greater end. At Valija, this is our philosophy and even when we can’t always be a 100%, we acknowledge that little by little is bigger than nothing at all. Check out other ways #ValijaCares.

5 Simple Ways to Help Mother Earth!

1.Conserve Water: Simple things as closing your tab when brushing yout teeth or not taking  unnesary long showers, can make a big difference.

    2. Minimize the use of fossil fuels: Try to buy locally produced foods, do more carpooling, bike or walk to your destination.

    3. Plan your Meals: Creating less food waste could help a looooot. 30% of the food is thrown away in the garbage. Be mindful when making or ordering your food, it will also keep away rats and roaches.

4Say no to plastic utensils, bags and straws: Use reusable bags like the ones we offer at our stores, get your self a reusable straw and an utensils kit to keep in your purse. If you already carry too many things, choose to drink your drinks without a straw and let the business owners know that you would have prefered a more ecofriendly business.

    5. Use Natural Products & Support conscious brands: Use less personal care products that contain chemicals and plastic packaging. This will not only improve your overall health but will reduce the production and waste of toxins that end up in our oceans and soil. Here's our favorite brand for skin remedies, Wise Roots Living. You can also find their products in our Wynwood and Old San Juan stores.

What simple things can you add to the list that could help Mother Earth? We'll love to see your comments below!
