How we are responding to Hurricane María

As a Puerto Rican company, our commitment has always been the economic and social growth of the island. That is why we once again join forces, in collaboration with other organizations and private companies, to build a program that will help restore and assist the communities most affected by Hurricane María.

Valija Disaster Relief seeks to serve as a direct distributor of supplies into the hands of those most in need, in a quick and efficient way.

If you are interested in making a donation of supplies, write us to maria-aid@valijagitana.comfor shipping details.

Please review the list below with the provisions that we will be receiving and distributing to the communities:

- Water gallons
- Water filters
- Solar Lanterns
- Solar Chargers
- Battery or Solar Fans
- Battery Radios
- Canned Meats
- Nutrition Bars
- Peanut Butter
- Canned beans and grains
- Cat & Dogs Food

- Baby Diapers
- Baby formula
- Sanitary napkins
- Toothbrushes

We know it will be at least six months before electricity and water are fully restored to the most secluded and affected parts of the island.

To help bring long-term relief, we will acquire and distribute supplies such as water filters (http://www.wavesforwater.org/), solar-powered lanterns, and solar chargers to address critical needs such as potable water and refrigeration.

We will also help organic farmers whose crops have been destroyed by providing supplies such as seeds for replanting.

Valija and OPAS will coordinate directly with the municipalities most impacted by the hurricane, such as Guayama, Toa Baja, Utuado, and many more.
